Understand the family names

Triton's published documentation identifies the TSPS450 as an oscillating spindle sander and the TSPSP650 as a portable oscillating spindle sander. Its sander collection also identifies the TSPST450 as a spindle-and-belt machine. Those extra letters are significant when searching for a manual or buying abrasives. The portable model's published variable-speed range is a feature of that particular format, not a specification to apply to the whole family. Save the exact identifier from the machine or listing before comparing specifications supplied by different retailers.

Choose which object should move

The clearest distinction is whether you want to guide a component across a fixed table or guide a tool along a supported component. Small pieces can be easier to control on a stationary table when the manual's workholding requirements are met. Large assemblies can create access problems if their entire weight must move around a bench sander. A portable format may deserve investigation for that situation, but it still requires a stable workpiece and the manufacturer's approved operating method. Do not combine figures from different electrical versions into a single imagined specification. Record the seller's exact regional model and compare it with the corresponding manual and rating information. A familiar model name does not prove the supplied cord, voltage, or service arrangement is appropriate where you work. When dimensions are shown in different units, convert carefully and retain the original sleeve size description so nominal accessory names are not confused with measured dimensions.

Organize the accessories by configuration

Store the sleeves, drums, inserts, and fixing components as a kit for the individual machine. A portable tool's accessories should not migrate into a benchtop kit just because a sleeve appears similar. For a secondhand Triton, ask for photographs with everything laid out and check the appropriate manual's inventory. Missing washers or mounting hardware can matter as much as a missing large assembly. Before ordering bulk abrasives, identify the two or three sizes that fit your usual curves and confirm replacement length as well as diameter. Select for access and repeatability

Choose the stationary format when a stable table supports the way you make parts, the combination when the additional belt has regular work, and the portable family when its documented method resolves an access problem. Finish the decision with the exact manual, mounting plan, extraction connection, and seller terms.
